I Was The Biggest Loser

I’m 45 years old and feel every bit of it most of the time. My spouse and kids are the most important things in my life. {I’ve been heavy all my life.~I have struggled with weight issues most of my life.~For as long as I can remember, I have been overweight When I graduated High School, I was not very overweight. Then one day I wake up and I’m 163 lbs heavier than when I got out of high school. I don’t recall exactly when I gained all of the extra pounds. Whether it was a job change or relationship change, for some reason I added weight. I have read the message boards at the biggest loser weight loss forum and seen this story repeated by many different people, most of us don’t know how and why we get into the shape that we do.
I believe that seeing the reality show the Biggest Loser finally gave me a push to make a change in the way I live. I was confident that I could accomplish my goal if I wanted to. I consider myself a doer and feel I have the resolve to meet goals that I set. I was not the only person in my family who could benefit from a diet. My wife and I worked as a team to figure out a solution. We knew that it was going to take more than a six pack ab exercise program, but we weren’t sure exactly what we were going to do until we started to talk to some of the people at the church that we attended and found out they had the same desire to lose weight that we did. Our first step was to find some other people who would forma sort of weight loss club among friends.
By having a group weigh in, we always had something to shoot for as the week went by. I felt a need to not be last in weight loss every week. I even strove to be the big loser every week. I set my goals high, and because of the way that I am in my daily life, I don’t like to lose.
Shortly after we started the Monday night program, my wife sought out some information about how to lose weight on the internet at sites such as http://www.fatlossfactor.com, and she was able to develop a diet and exercise program that we could follow. I was able to do my program in my basement. When I began my routine I was only able to do about twenty minutes at a time. I just could not handle a 45 minute to 1 hour workout.
Our family began eating very differently. Most of my adult life I could get along by eating a large breakfast, small lunch and a huge dinner. Fortunately we had seen reports that told us one of the keys to losing weight is not to skip meals.
I found the time to work out three times in the time before I was going to step on the scale at our first meeting. Each one was about a half an hour. I also monitored my food intake and made sure that it was in a consistent range. At our first meeting I did not know what to expect. I felt like I had done the right things, but the scale would tell the truth. I finally had my moment of truth that evening when it was my time to step on the scales. They showed that ten pounds had dissappeareed. Boy, was I on ecstatic.
I was able to keep my momentum going in the upcoming weeks and saw my weight drop from two to six pounds at every weigh in. My weight loss was tied to the amount of time I spent working out. I found that if I worked harder at my exercise routine and was more vigilant in watching what I eat, I would see a bigger drop.
I had no idea how much dropping the extra pounds could affect the way I feel. Eventually, my clothes did not feels so tight. My level of pep was rising quickly as I worked out. I could not believe that by just doing a few exercises, my body would feel so rejuvenated. My blood pressure was dropping with my weight. We were losing weight together, and both my wife and I were very happy and glad to keep it up. What we were doing was working. I might not be surrounded by millions of viewers, but I feel like I am still a champion.
