Making Up – Mending Your Broken Heart
How do you get your ex back? How can you make them see how great the two of you were together? This is your key to making up with them and healing your broken heart.
Firstly, you both need to recognize that whatever has happened, the blame must be placed on both of you. If you cheated on them, you may have not been getting what you needed from the relationship and from them. If they cheated, you were the one not giving what they needed. Yes, the cheater is morally culpable for the cheating. The moral responsibility does not lie with the person who was cheated upon. Both parties should realize the fault lies with both of them.
Learning to forgive and forget is very important. True forgiveness means that you let go of all of the anger related to the incident. You must never mention it again. You can never let it interfere with your relationship, the past is the past. If you can’t let it go then it will be much more difficult to truly make up.
You have to apologize if it is your fault. Too many times, after people say “I’m sorry,” there’s an “Oops I did it again,” moment. You’re not Britney Spears. It’s not cute. When you say you are sorry, you have to commit to changing. You have to mean it, otherwise you can forget about making up.
Be prepared to chase them a little bit. This doesn’t mean sending them hundreds of text messages or stalking them, but you have got to show them that you are still interested if you want to get them back. Don’t expect them to come forgive you right away just because you’ve sent out some signals that you are sorry. You need to put your heart on the line and your ego in check.
You may have to settle for something less than you wanted. It may be that they are only ready to be friends when you want a full fledged partner. It might take awhile to build that trust up again. Give them some space and time to get to know you again if trust is an issue. Eventually you will be able to make up if you accept what they are willing to offer you right now.
Lastly, when trying to get someone back you have to know when to stop trying and mend your broken heart. You need to know when to move on. There comes a moment in time where you may see that your partner is unwilling to forgive you and you need to give up and look for someone new. Even though this will break your heart, sometimes it’s the best thing for you. Making up with them may stop you from meeting your true soul mate, who may be out there waiting for you!
