Who Plays Video Games

When video games were first introduced the typical gamer was easy to describe. Not only could you spot the gamer, you were able to put a nametag on them. They became known as the techies. Gamers were the smart kids in the class. The pocket protector was very popular among them. Communicating with them was like talking to an alien. Gamers have evolved as much ass the games they play have. The typical gamer does not stand out like a sore thumb anymore. How has the look of the typical gamer changed?

The first way to describe a gamer is by the system they play on because the people who play are loyal to the console they like to play on whether it is the Xbox kinect, the Playstation Move, The Nintendo Wii, A PC gamer, or someone who plays games on their phones, they system they play on really does not matter except to the individual who is playing on it. Each person has a favorite console that they stand by.

Girls did not play video games at first. That is also not the case in today’s word. Rather than separating the genders they have brought them closer together. No longer are the game systems found in the man cave. They have taken over the living rooms of the world. That has opened them up to people of any gender.

A person who plays video games can not be defined by how old they are. When they were first introduced the people who played the games were usually in their teen years. Arcades were the stomping ground the younger generation if a person recently went to a store for the recent xbox 360 kinect release date they would see a line that was full of people of all ages and the game systems were to be played by everyone in the family from the youngest child all the way to the great grandparent who had come over for a holiday dinner and found themselves caught up in the excitement of game play.

When they were first introduced the people who played the games were easy to categorize. That was the hardcore enthusiast. A lot of time was invested in achieving goals in gaming. Video games became the central part of their life and affected anything else they did. It is not always that way today and many people are not as hardcore when they play. People are not always concerned about reaching a new level and have lost the total obsession about gaming. They do not get completely involved in the games. This type of gamer is looking for ways to play that are not going to make them think a lot and always build on what they had done before. They have lost the need to pick up a game and continue it on a daily basis. Video games do not have the central role of a person’s life but rather become just one facet of their personality.

It is not easy to know whether a person is a gaming enthusiast or not by looking at them. You could be standing in a room with many of them and not even realize it. The reality of the situation is that there are probably more gamers than there are non gamers. The number of systems that have been sold bear out just that. Even the adults in a house have probably managed to find some type of game that they enjoy.

It can be fun to try to picture the typical gamer. Everyone will probably have an idea of their gamer that is not the same as anyone else. That has been the biggest change in gaming through the years. It has become a game to find the gamer.
