Learning How To Forgive Yourself; Experiencing A Lifetime Of Freedom in Just Ten Days!

We have all had different things in life we wish we hadn’t done. Often these things cause us sadness as we think about them, while different things can cause so much regret we are able to barely live with ourselves and we find it is complicated, if not impossible, to excuse ourselves for it. Maybe you can understand what I am saying. You are so abashed of something that you have done that you can’t believe for a minute you might or should excuse yourself. Instead, you feel all you are able to do is spend the rest of your life paying penance for your wrongdoing, in hopes which will remove the intolerable burden of guilt you live with each day.

Without regard for your past evildoing, you can be freed from the responsibility you now carry, caused by your unwillingness to forgive yourself. You may have sought the forgiveness of God for what youve done, but if you have failed to excuse yourself, you may remain defeated, even bondage, until you opt to be obedient with the Word of God and pardon yourself.

Frequently when we look at the meaning and intention of of a word, we are able to better understand how to apply it to our lives. This is true as we look at the Greek word for forgiveness meaning to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, to release, to be freed.

To all who ask, your Heavenly Father gives His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He totally frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt we owe and guilt of our transgressions. He sets us “body, soul and spirit” at liberty. Nevertheless he does not stop there. He then tells us to forgive others, as well as forgiving ourselves, in the same way we’ve been forgiven, assuring us the ability, by God’s Spirit, to do so.

How do you go about forgiving him or herself? There isn’t any exact way but these thoughts could be helpful.

First, understand that one has to take the decision to pardon ones self based on God’s Word to do so. To forgive is a choice and an act of the will is critical to cause it to happen.

Leviticus 19:18 says you shall love your neighbor as yourself… To love yourself is a command of God and love always includes forgiveness.

Next, if you have not already asked, ask your Heavenly Father to forgive you for the wrongs you’ve done. It’s vital to do that before working through forgiving yourself. Remember, He is waiting to forgive you and will graciously do hence if you ask Him.

Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.

Then, sit down quietly with God and ask His Holy Spirit to show you the things which you have not let go of or given yourself forgiveness for. Put it all down on a piece of paper. Be sure and put down all of the specifics list the names of every person you hurt and the ways in which you hurt them. ( Nobody will see your writings. )

From there express how you feel due to what you did; Are you annoyed at yourself? Are you feeling embarrassed? Undeserving? Be very truthful, for your Heavenly Father knows it all already. This is the best place to release all of the emotions youve carried or attempted to deny.

Now, make the decision to forgive yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at liberty from the wrong you are guilty of. Put your evil-doing into His hands and ask Him to cure your emotional injuries and allow you to go on without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Eventually destroy your list and throw it in the garbage can as a visual reminder that the guilt of what youve done has been forgiven and carried away, long gone.

Now, go and experience the healing, peace and liberty that is yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
