Healing After a Breakup Why does it seem so Impossible?
People going through a breakup and reeling from the pain believe that feeling whole again is about as possible as it would be for someone on a diet to feel full? It just doesn’t seem realistic in many circles. It sounds a little too good to be true. But if you give it enough time or take the right actions you can find that healing – even after an unwanted breakup.
Why does Healing after a Breakup Seem so Impossible?
In the days and even weeks immediately following a breakup, you’re still struggling to cope with the pain. Sometimes you feel like you’re barely holding your head above the water and that at any moment the next wave is going to hit and pull you under completely.
It’s a very fragile time in the lives of many. You can survive this and most likely will. You can even move beyond the all encompassing pain. It doesn’t have to take weeks or months to get there either.
There’s a great line in the movie Sleepless in Seattle where Sam Baldwin (played by Tom Hanks) is talking about moving on after the death of his wife. He says ‘I’m going to get out of bed every morning…breathe in and out all day long. Then, after a while I won’t have to remind myself to get out of bed every morning and breathe in and out…and then after a while, I won’t have to think about how I had it great and perfect for a while.’
Breakups and divorce in relationships, especially long-term relationships can feel very much like a death. The only difference is that you’ve lost the support system you had in the friends and family of the person you were involved with as well. In some ways it can feel even more devastating.
But that’s the reason it seems so impossible. It just hurts so much. So, here’s what you need to do in order to make your pain stop.
You need to start making plans for your future. Start small, like Sam Baldwin. Start with breathing. Work your way up to the normal routine of your life. Then when these things become easier to do and you can stop counting out the steps in your mind, you can get back into the business of living your life.
It might take time. The longer your relationship lasted, the longer it should take to recover from the breakup. But in time you’ll find that you are moving on and healing after a breakup – sometimes in spite of yourself.
Of course, there’s one other thing you can do that will end your pain pretty promptly. You can get your ex back. Yes you can! It’s not nearly as difficult as society at large would have you believe. That’s not to say that it’s going to be easy but it certainly isn’t impossible – especially if you have a great guide like the one in the link above to guide you through the process. Get started today with this simple video and see for yourself how fast things can change and your pain can end.
